Freqently Asked Questions

What is CBD?

CBD stands for Cannabidiol. It is one of many chemical compounds that are found in the cannabis plant, Cannabis Sativa - also known as hemp. It is a naturally occurring substance, which is thought  to have several health benefits such as reduction of inflammation and chronic pain.

This is done through the endocannabinoid system in the body, which appears to be linked to different processes affecting mood, pain, appetite, memory, and an array of others.

Is CBD good for you?

CBD is used by many to alleviate a range of health conditions. In fact, CBD may be helpful for chronic pain, inflammation, insomnia, and anxiety. The research on the health benefits of CBD is still ongoing, but there is already evidence to suggest that it is beneficial.

It is for this reason that CBD is used in our teas and flapjacks. THC, on the other hand, is not involved - so you should not worry about any issues surrounding health and THC.

If you are on any medication, you should talk to your doctor just to make sure that it won’t affect you negatively. It’s always a good idea to be safe!

Will I get ‘high’?

No. The compound that causes the famous psychoactive effects of cannabis, THC, is not present in our hemp products except for in incredibly trace amounts, well below the legal requirement of CBD products which is 0.2% - not enough to have any psychedelic effects by a long way.

Our hemp is grown especially for its high CBD and low THC content, and lab tests are available to show the exact amounts of these and all compounds in our hemp.

Is CBD legal in the UK?

The use of CBD products in the UK are legal - although they are subject to rigorous rules and laws. However, there are regulations that we follow to ensure that all of our products remain legal in the UK and Europe.

This includes independent lab testing of our CBD, having less than 0.2% THC in our products, and regularly checking regulations to keep up to date on what the law says. This is so you can be sure of the quality and content of our products.

Can I travel with CBD products?

If you want to travel around Europe, having products with less than 0.2% THC should be relatively safe. However, it is important that you make sure you buy reputable products that are independently lab tested. That way you have a better understanding of the contents of the products you are carrying.

For the United States, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) states that CBD products should have less than 0.3% THC for them to be legal, which is 0.1% higher than in the UK. However, if you are flying to the states you may have issues with carrying CBD oil due to the size of the bottles.

For other parts of the world, it is a good idea to do your research. Some countries may have stricter regulations than you expect and you do not want to get caught out at the border.

Do you deliver?

We ship our products straight to your door for free anywhere in the UK. However, we regretfully do not deliver outside of the UK at this time.

How do I use CBD?

The Wild Health Co has a range of CBD products, including CBD teas and flapjacks, which you can consume just like a basic cup of tea or snack. However, our CBD oil requires some guidance.

There are a range of factors, such as weight, that determine how much CBD you should take. Therefore, it is a good idea to discuss this with your GP before taking it, especially if you are taking other medications.

Our CBD oil bottles have a volume of 10ml, which is approximately 200 drops, and they are available in a range of strengths -  250mg, 500mg, and 1000mg.

We recommend that you take 3-5 drops of CBD oil beneath your tongue, hold it for a minute, then swallow. Here is approximately how much CBD is in each drop for each strength:

  • 1000mg strength contains 5mg CBD per drop
  • 500mg strength contains 2.5mg CBD per drop
  • 250mg strength contains 1.25mg CBD per drop

CBD jargon buster!

Full-spectrum - cannabis features hundreds of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds that all contribute to the potency and effectiveness of its CBD. When a product features all of these, they are “full spectrum”.

Terpenes - these are the pungent oils that give cannabis its distinct smell - more than 100 have been identified so far. It is believed that each individual terpene helps with the specific effects of cannabis. For example, limonene can elevate your mood, myrcene can help with sleep, and caryophyllene can help with the gastrointestinal tract.

Cannabinoid - any part of a group of closely related compounds that includes cannabinol and any other constituents of the cannabis plant.

The entourage effect - this is the combined effect of all aspects of full-spectrum CBD. Some more refined or single-compound CBD has a reduced effect when used.
